Easy to Train Dogs

If you own a dog, it is important that she has at least a basic level of obedience training. All dogs can be trained, but some simply learn quicker than other dog breeds.

Some dogs require more patience, others respond to specific training methods, some need a gentle touch, while others need a firmer hand. These types of dogs often do better with someone who has a bit of experience in dog training.

But if you are a first time dog owner, getting a dog that is easy to train can make a world of difference to your experience and introduction to dog ownership.

Another reason you may want an easy to train dog is if you are very busy, and don't have a lot of time to invest in training.

Regardless of the reason, these dog breeds are known to be easy to train. They are smart and they learn quick. As a puppy, our Labrador Retriever only had to be shown and told twice "out of the kitchen" to learn that the kitchen was out of bounds. It was really nice to have him learn so quickly!

So if you want a dog that is easy to train, take a look through the list below. Some are popular breeds, like poodles, that are known for their cleverness; while others, like the Norwegian Buhund or Puli, may be less familiar to you.

My name is "Buddy" and I'm a yellow lab. My favorite thing to do is fetch a ball. I also like to bark at cars and go swimming in the lake whenever I can. It's great to be a dog!
